Stockton and Thornaby is the largest canoe club on the River Tees. We have a membership well in excess of 100, most of whom are active in paddle sports.
We are constantly developing our coaching activities in kayak and canoeing disciplines and are committed to providing novice paddlers with sound basic skills as they progress through the star awards.
We provide the opportunity to try all aspects of canoeing with members taking part in all branches of the sport from open boats to white water and a growing water polo section.

The Club meets every Wednesday night from 18:00hrs through till the end of September then weekends and pool sessions during the winter with plenty paddlers braving the elements on river trips and Tees Barrage whitewater course.
Equipment hire is available at a nominal charge for those who want to come and try and all age groups are welcome, we have paddlers from 8yrs to 60+
Many club members share an active social life. We have a calendar of non-paddling activities, which include:
- Tenpin Bowling
- Climbing
- Mountain Biking
- Walking
- Ice skating
- Youth Hostel Weekends
- Visiting Pubs (comes as standard to all activities)
The clubs aim is to make everyone welcome and participate in paddle sports at their own particular level of interest.
Our club is based at a developing site on the River Tees at Yarm School where we have access to a long stretch of flat water. We are fortunate to have the Teesside Barrage White Water Course on our doorstep and we also make extensive use of stretches of the upper Tees, the Ure, Swale, Wear and other northern rivers. We have Saltburn nearby which provides excellent sea surfing and some members are keen to develop our open canoe activities.
