End of Summer

Due to failing light our last session of the summer at Castlegate will be on 22nd Sept.
We will then move our coaching activities to tthe pool,

Members support

I would just like to say a big thank you to all the members and coaches who have supported the clubs summer activites, helping with such things as come and try sessions, safety cover at local events and organising camps and trips.
Lets see what we can put on over the coming winter.

Foundation Safety & Rescue Course
Run over 2 nights 1st & 8th Sept

This course is essential for people who intend paddling on grade 2 water or above covering all the basic safety & recue techniques required for a safe trip, see syllabus 
This is also a prerequisite for anyone entering into coaching.
The course will run over two club nights and will cost £25 per person for members for coaching and assement (usual cost £50-£80 if taken with an independent course provider) anyone with a 2 star or paddling to 2 star standard can take part.
Places are initially limited to 6 people but if thier is enough interest we will try to get another coach, so book early

Ray Mears weekend part 2 11/12th Sept (Scotland)

I now have 12 names for this trip.

Those going on Friday evening we intend staying at the Tweedside Caravan Park Innerleithen EH44 6JS, for those meeting Saturday morning we will be at the carpark Kingsmeadows Rd Peebles about 9:00ish. 
First day we will paddle from Peebles to Fairnilee for an overnight camp, (cost £3 per head at present) distance approx 15miles, the next morning we will continue to fishermans footbridge Dryburgh/Saint Boswells then return home, just the shuttle to organise.

Slalom evening

Just a note to thank all those that braved the elements to have a go at slalom on Wed evening. If you enjoyed it let me kow and we will see what else we can organise to try other areas of our sport.

2010 Club Outings

We are organising a few weekend activities for this year so keep your eyes on the site, I will post dates and venues on this page with further details on the river trips page.  

Ray Mears weekend 11/12th Sept
Paddling the river Tweed from Peebles to Kelso in the Scotish borders with an overnight stop at Fernilee Rapids (small camping fee payable).
This is an open boat trip, limited number of club boats available.

Whitmuir Weekend October 8/9th.
Weekend in self catering accommodation near Selkirk, paddling river Tweed. details to be added when dates are confirmed.

Lanehead Outdoor centre February 5/6th 2011 .
Weekend based at lake Coniston paddling local rivers, details to be added when dates are confirmed.
Initial price set at £40 head, payment by installments, price will drop as more people book, last year this worked out at £25 per head inc evening meals.
